Winter 2016 News
(This article is taken from Rollestonian - Winter 2016 issue)

Our thanks to Janet Stone, Club President, for her workshop in September and to Sandra Meakin for her demonstration “Have You Booked It Yet” in October. We would also like to thank everyone who attended our Skittles Evening at the Burton Bridge Brewery, enjoyed by all.

November is our busy month with a workshop being held at the Institute on the 9th and the main evening of our year being held at Tutbury Village Hall on Friday 18th November, commencing at 7.30 pm.

This is an open event where Kate Russell and Patti Dawson will entertain everyone with what will be an outstanding and original demonstration of flower arranging titled “Home For Christmas”. Patti and Kate have thrilled audiences all over the Midlands and North with their demonstrations and this will be an event not to be missed by all flower lovers. Tickets are available from Committee members priced at £9.50, to include a glass of wine/juice and mince pie, or by telephone 01283 815082. Last year we had over 130 attending this evening, the sooner tickets are purchased the better, a sales table will be there for anyone interested. (when prompted by Callguard just quote flower club).

It will soon be that time of the year, our “Christmas Party Meeting” will be held on 14th December for members and their guests.

May we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year. Our events for next year will be confirmed at our AGM in January and will be posted on our facebook page, more details and photos can also be found at tutburyflowerclub.com.

Autumn 2016 News
(This article is taken from Rollestonian - Autumn 2016 issue)

Hi everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the summer that has seemed a long time coming. We had a lovely day out at Wroxall Abbey on 12th May where Julia Mitchell did some gorgeous arrangements, followed by afternoon tea. There followed a tour and talk about the abbey. The same month on the 11th we enjoyed DI Smith’s display “Somewhere Under the Sun”. 8th June, Jane Howard, Club Secretary, treated us to a workshop which everyone was thrilled with and enjoyed their own “masterpieces” to take home. In July Shirley Henderson demonstrated “Around the World in 80 Minutes”, a very informative evening. We also had a cheese tasting evening on Friday 22nd, hosted by the Abbots Delicatessen which is based in Burton Market Hall. A very enjoyable event unfortunately a lot of members were going on holiday, I just hope none were caught in the major traffic delays.

Looking forward we have Beverly Artis at Tutbury Institute on 10th August with a demonstration. 14th September is a workshop and hopefully in September we are also trying to arrange a skittles evening, the last one we held was great fun. 12th October a demonstration by Gill Mills entitled “Floral Gems”, on 9th November we shall be holding a workshop. I’m pleased to inform you that on 18th November we shall be holding our annual event in Tutbury Village Hall, this year we have Kate Russell and Patti Dawson, their demonstration will be called “Home for Christmas”, just thought you may like reminding of Christmas in the middle of August!! Hope to see you all at our events.

Glen Price.

Spring 2016 News
(This article is taken from Rollestonian - Spring 2016 issue)

As we are all sitting writing our reports on a cold wet day thinking is January ever going to come to an end or it stop raining, we do have a lot to look forward to. Spring is only just around the corner, I had my first bunch of daffodils last week, and it’s always something to smile about as we walk into the supermarkets and see all the flowers for sale. We know that spring will soon be with us.

Of course the first event we have to look forward to is our demonstration which takes place at The Tutbury Institute commencing 7.30 pm. on Wednesday 10th February. This could be the first and perhaps last event for a number of the demonstrators taking part, chosen from members of our own committee. The display entitled “Anything Goes”, may turn out to be just that but will no doubt be a lot of fun. Everyone is welcome to attend, you may be unlucky enough to win one of the displays in the nights raffle!

9th March will see a demonstration by Lynda Stamp entitled “Natures Fantasia” whilst on 13th April we will be holding a workshop.

We would love to see both old and new faces at our club, annual membership is £24.00 to include all workshops and demonstrations at The Institute, or £4.00 payable at the door per event. Visit us at www.tutburyflowerclub.com  for more information on our club and events.
