St Mary's Appeal
This is YOUR village church-will you keep it standing for future generations? The deterioration in the walls is so severe that it is now on the English Heritage ‘At Risk Register’. Following a year long preliminary investigation by our architect we now have a schedule of work to be carried out which includes:
• Tower repairs
• South Elevation masonry repairs
• Conservation/restoration South Porch door
In addition to a grant of £70,000 from English Heritage and some initial support we need another £100,000 to complete these works. Detailed drawings can be seen in the church.
Think back to weddings or baptisms enjoyed in the church and funerals attended -others deserve the opportunity to do so as well.

St Mary's Lead Theft
St Mary’s again were victims of Lead Theft this week. The South Mosley Aisle was targeted, we think, on Wednesday (24th Aug) night, Thursday (25th) morning. Five sheets of lead were taken that can be seen with maybe more on the reverse slope. This resulted in a lot of water damage in the Mosley Aisle. Potentially this theft could cost St Mary’s up to £20,000+ as we can only claim on insurance £5,000 for a Lead Theft Claim. This sort of money could potentially wipe out our reserve which was being earmarked for the Wall Repairs and leave us with even more fundraising to undertake in addition to the £80,000 we were looking at needing to find. Your support and prayers are asked for on this and for the entire parish to keep an eye out for future Lead Theft.
