Summer 2018 News

Pre-school returns for the summer term, we have 5 new children joining us, a big welcome to you all. We are going to focus on the theme of Space, this is based on this year's children and their interest in science and exploration. We will be starting our transition process for our school starters and will be visiting the foundation playground and classrooms to play over the coming weeks. We will be looking at the first initial sounds that they learn at school and having fun bringing in items for show and tell around these letter sounds. We have a visit from the RSPB to visit the school pond and talk about wildlife with the children.

The children will be celebrating May Day and taking part in the scout carnival with lots of creative work along the way. We have a sponsored challenge event to finish the half term. The staff team have just undertaken some training on implementing Woodwork in the Early years and we are hoping to start this in the summer months. A big thank you our Pre-school committee for all the fundraising they have done over the last few years, it has meant we have been able to replace some much needed resources and provide these new opportunities for our children.

We will finish our summer term with a Leaver's Trip to Twycross Zoo and a Fun day picnic at the cricket club.

Spring 2018 News

We have had a very busy start to 2018. The children have been looking at several topics, Over the first half term we have been looking at “People who help us”.

We have also began looking at a maths program called Ten Town, this is something we have done for several years now with huge success. Each week we will focus on a number and its character. This is to support all the children’s number recognition and how to implement that knowledge. We have also celebrated Chinese New Year tasting different food, listening to music from around the world and making our own musical instruments.

Our committee are planning lots of exciting events for the year, including a new Geoffrey Jumper show that will take place in March. Look out for posters around the village.

We are always looking out for raffle prizes to raise extra funds for Pre School so if you are able to assist or donate please get in touch.
