Winter 2015 News

This half term we have been looking at “Myself” with the children, we have our kitchen as the home corner and lots of dressing up clothes, as we talk about ourselves and our families. Over the last few years we have used sign language with the children with huge success, they picked up the signs with ease and we use this as part of our daily routine. We also launched our all about me shoe box project where the children fill a box with all things about themselves and then talk the other children through the contents.

We hope to take the children on a colour and nature walk, to visit the school hall and dance. Over the last few years we have developed our woodland adventure activities at the Junior site Spinney and the committee and parents have raised funds and applied for grants so that we can have new equipment to make this possible each term.

Our committee continue to fundraise and have successfully arranged a children's Halloween disco and for the first time followed in the evening by an adult thriller night, and also our second Toy Sale. They continue to fundraise, all support is gratefully received.

Up and coming events:
Christmas party Monday 14th December,
Nativity at St Mary's Church 18th December 1.30pm

We currently have some places available for children starting the term of their 3rd birthday, contact pre school for more information.

Merry Christmas from all at Rolleston Pre-School.

Autumn 2015 News

Our last half term of the year has all been about homes, here and around the world. We have built dens, made models, looked at different houses around the village, and played in our own home corner. The older children have had lots of visits to big school and hot dinner practices with us at Pre-school. We had a magical week in the woods being creative; dressing up as pirates, woodland fairies and Native Amercians. The children really enjoyed sharing the experience with their families and showing them all the different activities we have been enjoying through the week.

We had a shed painting session and a final Pre-school clean thank you to all the parents who came to help it is so appreciated. The older children had their leaver's trip at Tywcross zoo and lots of fun dressing up the last week for our theme days. Have a wonderful summer everyone. Good luck everyone going to big school.

Pre-school opens for the summer term on Tuesday the 8th of September, we still have a few places available.

We are holding two Halloween disco's this year, both at Rolleston Club. The afternoon is for the children and come nightfall one for the adults! Tickets available soon.

Summer 2015 News

This half term we have 7 new children and their families joining Pre-school, a big welcome to you all. We will be looking at "Food & Health" with the children, we have our very own gym and juice bar for role-play. We will be making smoothies and fruit salads, talking about healthy foods and the effect exercise has on our bodies. We will be busy planting seeds for our garden and enjoying our new playground. We are planning a May day walk and time in the school woods. Pre-school will be taking part in the scout carnival and be busy making decorations for the day, which is a lot of fun all help is greatly appreciated.

The older children will be starting the transition over to big school, by having a week of pack lunches in the preparation for school, visiting the playground, and classrooms at school and doing lots of letter and sounds work ready for next year. We are hoping to finish our half term off with a giant sponsored bike ride on the school playground at the Junior site. We have been really fortunate enough to receive a grant from East staffs county council to support our woodland projects with the children, alongside the money raised on our Santa sleigh ride at Christmas we have met our target of £1,200 to gain new resources for the children.

We are still collecting Sainsbury's vouchers this is a great way of supporting us as a charity to gain sports equipment for the children. The deadline is fast approaching.
