Despite the festival clashing with both the Derby and Burton Albion matches at Wembley, and far from ideal weather (a marquee blew away and one local hero was filmed trying to rescue the lily pads from being washed away), the event still proved popular.

The official opening ceremony at 12 noon was performed by Parish Chairman James Toon.

The following pages capture some of the many sights, including the well dressings, tree wrappings, duck races, exhibits, mummers (with umbrellas!) and transport festival.
