Rolleston Music Circle & Choral Society News 2016

Winter 2016 News

It was good to see so many of you at our Baroque music concert in Horninglow in October. We like to show we are still in touch with our classical roots!

Our Christmas concert will take place on Wednesday 14th December, at St Mary's Church, at 7.30 pm. As usual, there will a good mix of traditional and new tunes, as well as the chance to join in with some carols. We look forward to seeing you there.

Look out for details on our posters nearer the time.

You might also like to see us at the Mayor's Christmas Concert, on the afternoon of Sunday 11th December at Burton Town Hall.

Meanwhile we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

Autumn 2016 News

It was good to see many of you at our summer concert at St Mary's Church in July. The Beatles' hit "All You Need is Love" topped the bill, but in view of the weather perhaps we should have included "Bring Me Sunshine"!

Our next concert will have a much more classical flavour. It will include Vivaldi's ever-popular Gloria, Byrd's Ave Verum, the Magnificat by Pergolesi, and the Concerto for Two Trumpets, also by Vivaldi. A bright and cheefrul evening of uplifting choral music.

This will take place on Saturday 15th October at 7.30 pm, at St John's Church Horninglow. Please look out for posters nearer the time for details of ticket prices etc.

Spring 2016 News

We were delighted to see so many of you at our Christmas concert in December.

Our next event will be a big occasion, with "animals" a central theme. Up to 100 children from John of Rolleston and Outwoods primary schools will join us for a performance of Captain Noah's Floating Zoo, a rumbustious and light-hearted version of the famous Bible story, with music by Joseph Horovitz and lyrics by Michael Flanders. The children will also give us Michael Hurd's up-tempo Jonah Man Jazz. The Hippopotamus Song might also find its way into the evening - which we have provisionally entitled Things That You're Liable to Read in the Bible.

Because of the large numbers taking part, we will be mounting the concert at The Priory Church of St Mary, Tutbury. More details to follow on posters and on our our website: www.rollestonchoralsociety.co.uk

Meanwhile, please make a note of the date: Saturday 19th March. Tickets will be available as usual from Starbucks News and from choir members.
