Art Club News 2014

Newsletter - Autumn 2014

2014 is proving to be a year where the club builds on past successes and looks forward with renewed optimism to the future. We have enjoyed a varied optional programme of weekly topics and in April were inspired by the line and wash demonstration by professional artist, Norman Rossiter. Our next demonstration will be “portrait in oils” by nationally renowned artist, Mike Skidmore, on Monday 6 October, 7-9 pm. Definitely one for your diary – members and non members will be very welcome.

The first of this year’s club exhibitions at Burton Library was well supported, as was a very successful and light-hearted Auction Night where donations of surplus-to-requirements art materials were auctioned to raise funds for the club.

An extremely sad note is of the recent death of our Chairman, Ron Price, who had worked so hard for the club for many years. His quiet, friendly encouragement and loyal commitment contributed so much to the success of the group. He will be missed by us all.

The club meets on Monday evenings, between 7 and 9 pm, in the hall at the rear of the Methodist Church in Stretton’s Main Street. Meetings here resume on 8th September, after our usual summer break when outdoor painting venues have been arranged for the lighter evenings and (hopefully!) warm weather of July and August.

We are always keen to welcome new members to our group of leisure painters. Whatever your level of ability, our friendly and informal club is an environment where sharing expertise and enjoying the social interaction of like-minded people may be for you! Find out more from our Secretary on 531440.
