Rollestonbury 2009

Following the success of “A Festival Of Music and Drums” in July 2008, Rolleston Scout Group presented another spectacular family outdoor music event at the Scouts HQ on Saturday 20 June.

‘Fantastic’, ‘Brilliant’, ‘Just what Rolleston’, needed were some of the comments that the scouts have received following Rollestonbury09.

The event started off with Tutbury Junior Band playing some lovely music to start off what became one of the best events that the scouts have ever held. They were followed by Tutbury Swing Band, then Tutbury Senior Band. Collectively they performed for four and a half hours with a vast array of music, that kept everyone well entertained. 7.30pm saw Tutbury Band hand over to the main stage where SpookyFish rocked Rolleston. Spookyfish are a four piece cover band that really did get Rolleston rocking. They played music from the 60’s through to the present day and everyone was on their feet dancing the night away.

It is fair to say that it was a little chilly but everyone got into the party mood and at 10.00pm the wind dropped and everyone was on their feet dancing to Livin on a prayer, Mony Mony and Mustang Sally to name but a few.

Thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed the party well over £2500 was raised for the 1st Rolleston Scout Group and Tutbury Band.

This event would not have been possible without a dedicated team some of who spent the previous three days working on the event. These few people then went on to spend 10 hours on the day stuck in the car park directing traffic, and were still smiling and dancing!!

So, the next question is, “Will the scouts do it again?” The answer is “Yes!!! Watch this space for the return of Rollestonbury!!!
