Following our A.G.M. in October we have elected some new officers and welcomed new committee members. We have said farewell to members who have given time and contributed enormously to Pre-School.

In particular the present committee would like to say thank you to Jo Wright and Virginia Hickman. Pre-School also said goodbye to one of its staff, we would like to say thank you and good luck to Karen Salisbury.

By the time of publication we will have held our annual Nearly New Toy Sale, on 13th November. If you missed it look out for next year's.

We are now preparing for our busiest time of the year at Pre-School, with numerous events planned for Christmas. We start our celebrations on 17th December with our Christmas party, which the children always look forward to and on 20th December the Nativity in the Chapel.

Autumn 2001 News

This year Pre-school have raised funds with the help of many parents for resurfacing the outside soft-play area. We were lucky enough to receive a Millennium Festival lottery award which enabled us to go ahead, the project should be completed by September. I should like to thank Mr J. Marshall for his constant support throughout this project.

The children took part in a special sponsored charity fund raiser for terminally ill children. The use of a bouncy castle was kindly donated by Ace Bouncy Castles of Stretton enabling us to raise several hundred pounds for this charity.

The older children starting school in September enjoyed a day out at Twycross Zoo, the weather was not too kind, but fun was had by all. Thank you to everyone who made this day so successful.

Term finished with Sports at the Scout HQ, great fun was had by all involved, I would like to thank the Committee and Staff for all their hard work.

Future events to put on your calendar would be the Chocolate Bingo on Saturday 6th October, AGM on Tuesday 16th October, 7.30pm in the Pre-school building, everyone is welcome, please come along for a coffee and a chat. The Tempest photographer will be at the Chapel on Friday 26th October, 1 - 3pm, all ages and family members are welcome. Look out for the Toy Sale in mid November, great chance for Santa to organise his list.

Spring 2001 News

Pre-school will be helping raise funds for St Mary’s Church on Saturday 3rd March, when we will be serving pancakes and refreshments in the church Room after the annual Pancake Races have been run in Brookside.

The Tempest Photographer will be visiting on 30th March from 2 - 4pm at the chapel rooms, anyone wishing to have family photographs at very reasonable prices please feel free to attend on the day.

We will also be holding our annual Easter Fayre at the Chapel rooms on Thursday 5th April from 2 – 4pm. The children are invited to join us at the chapel rooms for some singing, refreshments and an Easter bonnet parade, with all bonnets lovingly created by talented parents.

In April, Pre-school will be taking part in a “Sponsored Bounce”, in aid of the children’s charity Happy Days. This charity provides leisure activities, holidays and days out for abused, disabled and terminally ill children. The event is due to take place during the week of 14th – 18th May, with the children from pre-school completing their sponsored bounces in their pre-school sessions. We would be grateful if anyone could provide pre-school, free of charge, a small bouncy castle for ‘bouncing purposes’ for the duration or part of the week. If you are able to help please contact Alison Warner on 01283 814634, any help would be gratefully received.
