Burton Friendship Club

We are a friendly club and the only qualification for joining is that members must be over 50 years old. Our membership covers East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire and anywhere else near enough to come. On average we have an activity once a week and members can attend as many or as few as they wish. We started out in the Beacon Hotel on Tutbury Road until it burned down and then we had to look around for an alternative venue. Our monthly meeting is now held in Rolleston Club (car park entrance) on the first Thursday of every month at 10.30a.m. We usually have guest speaker every other month and in between we play games such as Beetle, Bingo etc., or have a quiz. This gives us the chance to mix, chat and make friends which is difficult to do when we have a speaker.

We have a coffee morning once a month. There is a Tuesday pub lunch at various venues round the area, we have a Sunday lunch on the last Sunday of the month and we are all looking forward to our special Christmas lunch which will be held in Draycott this year. During the summer we have a monthly ramble. We have days out – a couple of months ago, we spent a very pleasant day in York and we have holidays twice a year, our last one was in Eastbourne and our next two will be Bournemouth and Tenby. Our January meeting will be on January 6th and new members will be welcome.
