Rolleston Open Gardens Sunday 2004
Sunday 18 July

Unlike last summer, the weather this year so far has been a lot colder and wetter, so we were lucky the weather was 'reasonable' on the day, with only one very heavy 'shower' (lasting about half an hour), and not deterring the crowds too much. Despite having fewer visitors than previous years a profit of over £3,000 was made for St Mary’s Fabric Fund, so thank you to everyone who helped in any way.

Eleven gardens were open to the public, with refreshments available at Rolleston Club. As well as the gardens there was a display of Bonsai in the church, music in church, including the Barton Fiddle Folk, and following on from last year’s “Little Weed” competition an “animal” trail for the children to follow (Congratulations go to the winners Hannah Wolfenden, and Jasmine and India Gould). Rolleston Gallery Group were also painting in the church.

This will be the last year that Sylvia and Tom run the plant stall so special thanks must go to them for all their hard work - over the years they have raised thousands of pounds. It would be good to hear that someone (or maybe a small group of friends) would like to take it on; please get in touch with the Rector if you think that you could help.

Next year’s Gardens Sunday will be on June 19th. Let's pray for a drier one.
