Newsletter - Winter 2009

Our forthcoming concert is "An Autumn Evening of Beautiful Music" and takes place at 7.30 pm on Saturday 5th December, at St John's Church in Horninglow. Highlights will include the Gloria by John Rutter, Songs of the Fleet by Stanford and - to set the mood for Christmas - the opening chorus, Christians Be Joyful, from Bach's Christmas Oratorio. The conductor is David Johnson, and Glyn Aubrey is guest soloist. Tickets, price £7, are available in advance from Starbucks newsagents, or on the door.

Our traditional concert of music, carols and readings for Christmas is on Wednesday 16th December, at 7.30 pm at the Methodist Chapel in Chapel Lane. Everyone is welcome, of course, but be sure to get there in good time as this always proves to be a very popular occasion.

Our next concert will be on Saturday 4th July, and will have an appropriately American theme. It's entitled "Stars and Stripes" and will be a celebration of music from the USA. The programme will include traditional and modern spirituals, as well as songs from top shows like Fiddler on the Roof.

There's a change from our normal venue: this time we'll be at the village hall in Tutbury. The evening starts at 7.30, and all tickets are priced at £10 - to include buffet and wine.

Please purchase them in advance if you can, so we can have a good idea of numbers for catering. Tickets are available from Starbucks or from choir members.
