Newsletter - Winter 2000

We are pleased to have a few new members. The “Art Appreciation Evenings” have been most enjoyable with members bringing recent paintings for help and advice. Our Annual Exhibition and Sale of Work will be at the Brewhouse Nov 18th - Dec20th. (see below).

Art is for everyone, if you have Thursday nights free and would like to join Burton Art Club ring Ron Price 812184. We would especially welcome anyone who studied art at school or who has already tried their hand at painting pictures.

Newsletter - Summer 2000

This summer will be a busy time for members of Burton Art Club, their work will be on show at a number of local events within Rolleston and other villages.

We would like to hear from anyone interested in joining the club. Members are willing to give help and encouragement to anyone taking up painting as a new hobby. We have artists working in watercolours, pastel and oil. As our weekly meetings of two hours (7pm – 9pm) is such a short time to do art work, instruction videos on how to paint are available to take home. At present we meet in the former Forest of Needwood School, Rolleston. We hope to maintain a strong Club and find new facilities when this building closes.

During the summer months outside sketching and painting venues have been planned, one for each week for 16 weeks on Thursday evenings starting:-

June 1st Rolleston
June 8th Tutbury
June 15th Tatenhill
June 22nd Stapenhill Gardens

Anyone wanting to join for support with their art work and have the opportunity to exhibit their finished work with the club please contact Ron Price.

Newsletter - Spring 2000

Burton Art Club held its last "pre-2000" exhibition at the Brewhouse in November and December. It was very successful and ten paintings were sold. Obviously some people received paintings as Christmas presents!

With several events already planned for the coming year, the club has decided to forego its usual summer exhibition at the Derby Guildhall. However, it is running an open exhibition at the Scout headquarters as part of Rolleston Arts Festival.

Since Easter is late this year, our summer term at the Burton Technical College will consist of only four meetings. From June onwards you will find us painting "en plein air" in the local villages, starting with Rolleston. .Why not join us?
